Parsha Eikev Part 1, A miracle story, health advice, etc.

From Seth: Hadar Goldin HY”D plays the violin before Shabbos: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=840243492666507&set=vb.100000425929267&type=2&theater

Parsha Eikev Part 1

Last week I did not mention the six cities of Refuge that Moshe set aside. Three of which were on the other of the Yarden one in the Golan and one a bit below the Kinneret and one closer to the area of the Dead Sea. This land belongs to us but in the meantime the little king in Yarden has control of it. At this point in history and current events it is even good for us that he rules and opposes ISIS and Hamas except for some lip service to the later for internal consumption. But in the future, we will inherit all of Syria and the area over the Yarden if not the whole country the lands closer to the Jordan River Valley almost down to Akaka. Up into the second paragraph of the Shema in this week’s Parsha we are receiving a pep talk to the fighting men of Israel about not being afraid to go into battle to conquer the land. I took my friend’s Seth letter to his friends and the soldiers in his family where his son as a Rabbi gave pep-talks to soldiers going into Gaza. I wrote about the fact in my news updates but a very large amount of soldiers asked for army undershirts with Tzitzis which repel perspiration made out of material where the cloth will not get bacteria to need changing or smell from the lack of bathing during a conflict. The young men get a Mitzvah and feel that the Tzitzis, Tephillin, Tehillim and Mezuzos are guarding over them. The amount of at least war observant Jews has climbed amazingly to proportions of the fighting men that we have not seen since the days of Bar Kochba which ended in 136 CE.

7:12 And it shall come to pass, because ye hearken to these ordinances, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep with thee the covenant and the mercy which He swore unto thy fathers, 13 and He will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; He will also bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy land, thy corn and thy wine and thine oil, the increase of thy cattle and the young of thy flock, in the land which He swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

HASHEM has love for you and wants to bless you but you have to behave. Only follow the Mitzvos, do good deeds and love your fellow man is it that hard?

14 Thou shalt be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

A person is not complete without a husband or wife and a marriage is not complete without children. I do not want to get into the maddest in today’s society of the abomination (HASHEM calls the act that way among males Lev. 18:22 & Lev. 20:13 plus once more in Deut.) of same sex couples. The joy and blessing of a child and teaching and producing more offspring cannot be measured in money. The worst tragedy in the world is losing a child.

15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness; and He will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou know, upon thee, but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

The condition is based on observance level of the Nation. Some might be well and some might be ill if the Mitzvos are not followed. However, if everybody follows the Mitzvos.

16 And thou shalt consume all the peoples that the LORD thy God shall deliver unto thee; thine eye shall not pity them; neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

The left here and in the world are shouting pity the poor Palestinians. DO NOT PITY A CRUEL NATION WHO STOLE YOUR LAND! Pity the compassionate. If my internal feeling in my Neshama is correct, it will not be long before the repercussions upon those who criticized Yisrael will rebound upon them and their places of worship by the cruel nation turned loose in their own countries. G-D will not pity them on YOM HAHU! (Zechariah, Yeshayahu)

17 If thou shalt say in thy heart: 'These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?' 18 thou shalt not be afraid of them; thou shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt: 19 the great trials which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out; so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the peoples of whom thou art afraid.

Based on my meager knowledge of the Prophets and Writings, we shall see these signs, wonders and miracles in the future. What we saw in the War of Independence, Six Day War, Yom Kippur War etc. up to these last weeks are nothing compared to the Nissim and Niflaos that we shall see when the final redemption of Yisrael and mankind come about. The righteous of nations and those of us righteous or with a potential of righteousness in Yisrael will witness this if not today or tomorrow very soon.

20 Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and they that hide themselves, perish from before thee. 21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them; for the LORD thy God is in the midst of thee, a God great and awful.

We shall see what happens to the most power and even our munitions will run low the percentage that survives will see Nissim and Niflaos (miracles and wonders) that have not been seen since the days of Moshe and Yehoshua. If you think that this cannot happen see the battle of “The Valley of Tears” in the Yom Kippur War with Avigdor Kahalani.

22 And the LORD thy God will cast out those nations before thee by little and little; thou may not consume them quickly, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

When I first came to my Yeshuv there were plenty of wild animals, snakes and scorpions. After years I saw a weasel this week near the fence of our Yeshuv and from time to time a turtle but most have gone into the woods. When the Moshiach comes we will be able to walk or drive into Lebanon unto the Turkish Border and we will have a treaty with the Kurds allowing us water from the Euphrates and them to live in peace. I do not know how this will work but we will get our land that HASHEM promised us. Already in Syria and Lebanon there is infighting that will pave the way in the future for us to enter and live in these places.

23 But the LORD thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and shall discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they be destroyed.

We see ISIS from Iraq fighting the Syrians and Hezballah and cleaning up the world from each of them before us today even though Moshe originally was talking about the Nations of Canaan. For “Maaseh Avos Siman Le Banim” (the deeds of the fathers are a sign for the children) – from our Sages.

24 And He shall deliver their kings into thy hand, and thou shalt make their name to perish from under heaven; there shall no man be able to stand against thee, until thou have destroyed them. 25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire; thou shalt not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein; for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. 26 And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and be accursed like unto it; thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.

We have seen with our own eyes how the Middle-East has changed radically in a few years and there is more to come. Over-night in Egypt arose the Muslim Brotherhood and over-night it was overthrown. So too the “redemption of HASHEM is like a blink of the eye” – Talmud Bavli Eruvin.

8:1 All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers. 2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that He might afflict thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou would keep His commandments, or no.

This should be on our mind constantly but unfortunately we have to be reminded. That is why it is stated in the Haggada of Pessach “Remember Yetzias Mitzrayim Kaul Yemay Chaiyecha” (remember the exodus from Egypt all the days of your life).

3 And He afflicted thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knew not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD does man live.

The physical food is only a means to allow the vehicle aka the body contain the Neshama in this world for our mission. However, our mission is to make the level of the world higher so that Gan Eden can exist on earth not from Chessed like the last time but this time from Zechus or our merits for our Mitzvos.

4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

Your clothing did not wear out: The clouds of glory would rub their [the Israelites’] clothes and clean them so that they looked like freshly laundered clothes. And also their children, as they grew, their clothes grew along with them, like a snail’s shell, which grows along with it- [Pesikta d’Rav Kahana p. 92a] Nor did [your foot] swell: Heb. לֹא בָצֵקָה [This means:] Neither [did your foot] swell like dough בָּצֵק, as [usually happens] with those who walk barefoot, that their feet swell.

This was a miracles but Moshe talks as if it were almost the nature of the 40 years.

5 And thou shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so the LORD thy God chastens thee.

We have to look upon HASHEM as our father in heaven and he wants the best for his children therefore he corrects us through chastisement.
A personal note for the cutting the Drasha for this week in two. Last Thursday thank G-D my Cardiologist gave me the go ahead to return to a normal exercise routine but I have re-entered it slower than before. I still need more rest during the week and it will take a bit more time to return to myself. I am glad to say that besides learning Torah I did 5 days of work-outs this week and until today averaged more than 10,000 leg movements between walking and on the Elliptical Machine which is easiest for my legs to take.

Miracles: I picked this up from a Christian and Jewish friendship site I think Rabbi Eckstein helps run it: Givati Brigade commander Col. Ofer Winter told the weekly publication Mishpacha that he “witnessed a miraculous occurrence, the likes of which he had never seen before during his military career.”
Winter indicated a predawn raid intended to use darkness as cover was delayed, forcing the soldiers to move toward their objective as sunrise was approaching. With the troops in danger of being exposed at daybreak, Winter explained how heavy fog quickly descended to shroud their movements until their mission was accomplished.
“Suddenly a cloud protected us,” he said, referring to clouds the Bible says guided the ancient Israelites as they wandered in the desert. “Clouds of glory.”
Winter said only when the soldiers were in a secure position, the fog finally lifted. “It really was a fulfillment of the verse ‘For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to give you victory,’” he said, quoting Deuteronomy 20:4.
The first prime minister of Israel, David Ben Gurion, said this once: “In Israel, in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles.” There are in fact hundreds of stories of the 1967 and 1973 wars Israel engaged that told of God’s intervention.
One news source called Arutz Sheva said it well:
The Jewish nation’s existence for six millennia is a miracle. There is no single Jewish life without a miracle. Miracle is an essential part of our belief; it is a gem of Jewish folklore. It is a source of our hope in the dark, and it is a gift of our dreams. And we know why – because these miracles are true.

My friend Seth is quite a few years old than I and he has a number of grandchildren serving in the IDF here is what he wrote to all in the beginning of the war and only know I had time between my own health issues and busy schedule to get to it. It is not that unusual for an Israeli Extended Family.
B"H

Dear Friends (especially those abroad),

Many of you have written us recently to see how we are doing in this latest war so I decided to reply to everyone at once.

Most everyone in Israel has been/is affected in his daily life because the 2000 rockets and mortars that have been fired at us from Gaza have been sent to almost all parts of the country.
It is true that some areas closer to the border get a much larger number.  We have been quite fortunate that the good L-rd above has been watching over us so far and there have been no casualties due to rocket fire. However, this is not for Hamas' lack of trying. These rockets come night and day and are always proceeded by an ear piercing siren. Based on the proximity of our home to Gaza, we have 30 seconds to find shelter before a rocket could land on our head. The Iron Dome anti-missile system, has stopped many of the rockets headed our way. Some entered Beer Sheva and Bedouin encampments (next to us) and caused considerable damage and injury. By the way, the radar in the Iron Dome (and many others used in vehicles, ships and aircraft used in this war were all made in Elta where I worked).

Most social activities like concerts have been cancelled in Beer Sheva because the Home Front Command do not want many people congregating together, On the other hand, local activities in our little village of Ganei Omer seem to have increased.
I have noticed some changes in our society recently (especially since the three teens were kidnapped and killed next to where our son lives in Karme Tzur). Most people in Israel seem to realize that we are all in this together and the political fighting appears to be less. I also have noticed at our Schul that people seem to be much more serious when they pray and all give out in full voice when there is any singing. When neighbors feel bad or go into panic at times, another is usually there to comfort or console them.
One other change in our daily life is the roar of planes from the large AF base in Beer Sheva. This is one of the bases from where aircraft leave to attack targets in Gaza. It is running almost 24 hours each day. We can tell by the sound of the engines whether the planes are leaving fully loaded or returning after a bombing run.

Beer Sheva has 200,000 people in addition to the airbase so many of the rockets are sent our way. Boaz lives in Rehovot where there are no military targets but fewer people he does not get many of the rockets. Tammy is in Modiin which is located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and she hears even less of the Red Alert sirens.

Now to our grandsons. How are they doing?
Aviel is located in a base in the north of the country where he is a computer technician. I spoke to him last Friday and he told me that he had very little to do lately.
Eden was a Special Forces expert attached to the Golani Brigade. His term of army service expired four months ago but he went back to unit as an advisor because of the wealth of experience that he had (and he was being paid as a professional soldier). However, when the problems started in Gaza, the army told him that they had no more budget to pay him so, as much as his officers wanted him, he should stay home. When the war started, he began climbing the walls at home and tried to contact his unit to allow him to return but there was no one there to speak with him. By the way, the 13 soldiers that were killed yesterday in Gaza were all Golani soldiers.
His twin brother, Ariel, is an officer and the deputy commander of a tank company and is most certainly somewhere in Gaza. His younger brother David (Didi), just finished a tank commander's course and was selected to go to officer training school. However, before he could report for the school, the trouble in Gaza broke out and he was sent back to his base.
His younger brother is also in the tank corps but has not completed his basic training. He is a very tough soldier but cannot be confined in a tank so he went into the infantry that rides/runs in front of tanks to clear their way - a very dangerous job. We have not heard from any of these three since the war began. The army makes sure that all soldiers surrender their cellphones before they go into battle and all newsmen are kept out as well. That is why you probably get one-sided news from Hamas who manipulate all news they release. We have been repeatedly told by Hadas, the rabbi, that we shouldn't worry because we might not hear good news for a while but bad news travels very quickly.

Hadas could have been easily excused from the IDF with his age and eight children. However, he choose to remain. More than 20 years ago, he served with distinction as a battlefield medic during the first Lebanon war. About ten years ago, his unit selected him to attend a course for chaplains, from which he graduated with honors, and became an officer. We just heard that the IDF called him yesterday and sent him to the south AS A RABBI to give a series of inspiring talks to the troops there.

We are proud of all our boys and pray that they will remain safe. Each of them are really outstanding in the own way and if this country would have more of them, there would be no doubt of the outcome of these hostilities.

Hope you are all well.
Note the war aka Shalom HaGalil was 32 years ago but as a Rabbi and Officer I guess the army wanted Hadas to inspire the battlefield soldiers.

Health:  2 Foods that Destroy your liver and 6 that help from Mike Geary

These 2 Common Ingredients Destroy Your Liver (Plus 6 Foods that Support a Healthy Liver) by TheAlternativeDaily.com

Keeping your liver in optimal health is absolutely essential to your overall well-being. This is because the liver is the organ primarily responsible for cleansing our bodies of any toxins that may enter.
Thus, a healthy liver is important for the proper functioning of our other systems as well; if any of our organs are rife with toxins, they cannot operate as they should.
In the Western world, we tend to put a lot of stress on our livers with the vast amounts of unhealthy foods we eat. Fast food items and processed foods contain an array of synthetic ingredients and chemical preservatives that make the liver work overtime. Combine this with the effect of pollutants in our air, and chemicals in our household and personal products entering through the skin, and you’ve got a recipe for liver overload.
As a general rule, whole foods from the Earth support liver function, while manufactured, precessed chemical-laden foods do quite the opposite. Many ingredients used in processed foods are bad for the liver, however, there are two that stand out: high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and trans fats. Individually, and especially in combination, these two villains can wreak havoc on your liver.
A 2010 study performed by researchers at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center highlighted the hazards on the liver caused by ingesting a combination of fructose and trans fats.
During the course of the 16 week study, researchers fed mice either a normal diet, or a diet which included trans fat solids as well as drinking water mixed with fructose and sucrose.
After analyzing the mice at the end of the 16-week period, the researchers found that while the normally-fed mice did not have fatty liver disease, the mice fed trans fats, fructose and sucrose were found to have fatty liver disease, and had become obese.

The researchers also found scar tissue on the livers of these mice.

Fatty liver disease is characterized by fat deposits accumulating in the liver, leading to chronic inflammation. It can also lead to scarring of the liver, and if left unchecked, can progress to liver failure. This condition has also been found to be a stepping stone to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some forms of cancer.
Dr. Rohit Kohli, the main author of the study, and a gastroenterologist at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, comments:
“Interestingly, it was only the group fed the combination of trans-fat and high fructose which developed the advanced fatty liver disease which had fibrosis. This same group also had increased oxidative stress in the liver, increased inflammatory cells, and increased levels of plasma oxidative stress markers.”
What is most disturbing about many processed foods is that they often contain both high fructose corn syrup and trans fats. However, even on their own, these two culprits can do a lot of damage. The following is a look at some of the dangers of each of these ingredients.
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
While fructose is a natural sugar found in many fruits and vegetables, it is only found in minimal amounts in these sources. Also, fruits and veggies contain a high amount of fiber, which aids the body in processing the fructose. You would have to eat an extremely large quantity of fruits and vegetables, even high-sugar ones, in order to ingest a damaging amount of fructose.
High fructose corn syrup, however, is an isolated, chemically processed type of sugar, in which the ratio of fructose to glucose, is unbalanced, with a higher percentage of fructose content.
The molecular structure of HFCS sends the fructose directly to the liver. When fructose is consumed and cannot immediately be used by the body for energy, the liver stores it as fat.
High fructose corn syrup also spikes blood sugar quickly, contributing to insulin resistance, and can encourage fatty liver disease even more than regular sugar. It has been found by a significant body of research to be a primary player in America’s growing obesity epidemic, and is a factor in many chronic illnesses, as well, due to its contribution to chronic, system-wide inflammation.
Dr. Kohli states: “Fructose consumption accounts for approximately 10.2 percent of calories in the average diet in the United States and has been linked to many health problems, including obesity, cardiovascular disease and liver disease.”
High fructose corn syrup appears in many foods on the market today, even those that are not sweet. Besides its obvious presence in sodas and many sweetened beverages, it can be found in soups, salad dressings, cheese products, condiments and microwave popcorns, to name only a few. Also, over 40 percent of the non-calorie sweeteners used in the US are derived from high fructose corn syrup.
A 2014 study, performed at the University of Naples in Italy, found that even short-term intake of the typical Western diet, which includes high fructose content, was much worse for the liver than a high fat diet without the fructose.
The study was performed on adult rats, who were fed either a low-fat diet, a high-fat diet or a diet containing both high fat content and high fructose content, for two weeks. Results showed that the rats fed both high fat content and fructose led to fat build up in the liver, and a decrease in “liver insulin sensitivity.”
Study leader Dr. Susanna Iossa states: “This result points to the harmful effect of adding fructose to the usual western, high-fat diet and, together with other related findings, should stimulate the discussion on the use of fructose and fructose-containing sweeteners in beverages and packaged foods.”
On top of that, high fructose corn syrup is usually made from genetically modified corn, and has been found to contain contaminants including mercury. The presence of these contaminants places further stress on your liver. HFCS is also highly addictive, making you crave more and more of this dangerous substance. In fact, its addictive nature has been equated to that of cocaine.
Trans fats
Artificial Trans fats, also known as trans fatty acids, hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, are synthetic fats that deserve no place in a healthy diet. They are formed through a processing method known as hydrogenation, in which vegetable oils are hardened to form margarine or shortening. These fats are also found in many baked goods, fried foods and a variety of other processed foods.

(Mike's Comment:  Please note that although synthetic trans fats from hydrogenated oils are quite dangerous to your health, there are natural trans fats that exist in nature that are actually quite healthy...these are generally CLA fats that are found naturally in grass-fed beef, grass-fed butter/cream, and other pasture-raised meats and dairy...and these natural CLA trans fats have been found to reduce cancer risk and also help you lose fat and build muscle)

FACT: About 80 percent of trans fats in the Western diet come from processed food items.
These imposter artificial fats are well-connected to raising LDL ‘bad’ cholesterol levels, lowering HDL ‘good’ cholesterol levels, and thereby contributing to heart disease, heart attack and stroke. Research has also found a connection between trans fat intake and Alzheimer’s disease, infertility and certain cancers.
Due to the way they are processed, and their synthetic nature, the liver has a very hard time metabolizing trans fats, and therefore consuming them, especially in high amounts, can contribute to liver disease. In fact, most health experts are in complete agreement that there are no safe levels of synthetic trans fats.
Aside from their many physical health detriments, trans fats have also been linked to behavioral changes, namely, aggressive behavior. A 2012 study performed at the University of California analyzed the trans fat intake of 945 men and women, and compared it to their aggression levels. When other factors, including age and alcohol use, were adjusted for, the researchers found a significant association between high trans fat levels and aggressive behavior.
The study’s lead author, Beatrice Golumb, states: “We found that greater trans fatty acids were associated with greater aggression. This adds further rationale to recommendations to avoiding eating trans fats as their detrimental effects may extend beyond the person who consumes them.”
The researchers hypothesize that trans fats may lead to aggression by interfering with the body’s ability to metabolize omega-3 fatty acids. Not only are omega-3′s essential for heart and brain health, a lack of them has been linked to depression and antisocial behaviors. The Western diet is already often low in omega-3′s, and consuming trans fats just adds insult to injury.
The frightening thing about trans fats is that if a certain food contains less than 0.5 grams of them, they do not have to be listed on a label. Even though this may seem like a small amount, they can quickly accumulate. If you see the terms “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated” on an ingredients list, that means trans fat is lurking inside.
Ways to support your liver
The most important step to keeping your liver healthy is to eat a clean diet of whole, nutritious foods (organic whenever possible), and avoid processed and fast foods like the plague. Along with high fructose corn syrup and trans fats, processed foods contain many other chemicals that are very difficult for the liver to process. Additionally, quitting smoking if you still smoke, and limiting your alcohol content to one or two drinks per day, can do a great deal of good for your liver health.
The following are some healthy foods and beverages to add to your diet to support the health of your precious liver:
Lemon water: Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon every morning can give a wonderful boost to your liver. Lemons have been found to help the liver produce more enzymes, and also contribute to detoxification. Simply heat a cup of filtered water, squeeze in a fresh, organic lemon, and drink. Add a bit of raw honey for sweetness if you wish.
Coffee: Good news for coffee drinkers: this popular beverage is actually quite beneficial to liver health. A 2014 study published in the journal Hepatology found that drinking two or more cups of coffee each day can reduce the risk of dying from liver cirrhosis by a whopping 66 percent. Drinking coffee has also been linked to a lower risk of developing liver cancer. Again, make sure to choose organic coffee, since the non-organic kind can have synthetic chemicals in it from pesticides and herbicides.  If you missed it a couple weeks ago, I wrote a blog post on how I make what's been voted the "perfect cup of coffee" and is actually very healthy.
Artichokes: Artichokes have been used for hundreds of years in tonics to purify the blood and cleanse the liver. The liver-cleansing properties of these veggies may be attributed to the presence of two antioxidant compounds: cynarin and silymarin.  (Mike's note:  check out my blog post here with more benefits of artichokes as well as our favorite way to make them)
Cynarin aids the liver’s production of bile, which is important for digesting fats and ridding the body of toxins, and silymarin helps protect liver cells and cell membranes from damage. Both cynarin and silymarin also help to regenerate liver cells.
For these reasons, artichokes are a great addition to a liver detox plan.

Avocados: The healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidants found in avocados can help to protect the liver from damage. A Japanese study found that these "fatty" fruits helped to protect the liver from galactosamine, a toxin that is linked to causing liver damage which mirrors the damage done by viral hepatitis.

Garlic: The sulfur compounds found in garlic aid in activating liver enzymes. Additionally, garlic contains a substance known as allicin, which has potent antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties and can help in neutralizing dangerous toxins.
Turmeric: This yellow, fragrant spice, a star in Indian cuisine, can aid in protecting the liver from damage, regenerating liver cells, increasing bile production and keeping the body free of toxins. Turmeric also has antioxidant properties that help reduce system-wide inflammation, and may thereby reduce the risk of many chronic illnesses.  You can read about more of the amazing benefits of turmeric at the article here.
For a truly healthy life, make the health of your liver a top priority!

From Chaim B. an article from Italy worth reading the world over: Israel Holds the Free World's Destiny in Her Hands - report from Italy
Giulio Meotti The writer, an Italian journalist with Il Foglio, writes a twice-weekly Published: Sunday, July 20, 2014 12:45 AM
These stubborn Israeli Jews are alone - alone in resisting in a battle for all of us.
The people of Israel are valiant, going about their daily lives knowing that Muslim killers might explode a bomb or rocket in any public place at any time. Even more valiant are the Israeli soldiers, who are now fighting inside Gaza, house by house, spied on by cruel eyes, hated by old and young, targeted by beheaders, longed for by their families. These lone Jews fighting in a long night hold the free world's destiny in their hands.
The world is burning with jealousy of Israel and what it achieved for its people in a mere 65 years. These stubborn Israeli Jews are alone - alone in resisting in a battle for all of us. It has been calculated that since the year of the founding of the state, more than 60,000 rockets have fallen on Israel. The Israelis are victimized and they are alone, abandoned by the world — now, just as then.
In the Second World War, hope didn't come from the Western avant garde, but from the Jews who rebelled against tyranny. The same is happening today Open any Western newspaper and you will read about the trendy Israeli life under Hamas' rockets, life as usual, while the Arabs die. No mention of Israel as the heaviest bombed nation in the world. No mention of the trauma inflicted on two generations of Jewish children.
Israel is the first line of Western defense in the battle for non-Muslim survival and prosperity in the world. And now that the Jews are running for shelters and employing their brilliant Iron Dome, the world is burning with jealousy of Israel and what it achieved for its people in a mere 65 years. For the UN, for the Christian bodies, for the White House, for the European Union, for the complacent public opinion and its journalistic sentinels, an independent Jewish State bearing the name “Israel,” with Jerusalem as its capital, a renewal of life in the land of the Bible, a vital Jewish people restored after 2,000 years to its own holy land, has raised unresolved questions and disturbing conclusions.
The Israelis are a very special people because they know how to live in the present and make this present worth living, while the West has drained its peoples' souls and made their lives meaningless, with only shallow-minded hedonism and materialism remaining. This is why Gentiles often hate the Jews. The sagacious American author Eric Hoffer gave voice to the most tragic Holocaust-related 20th-century truth: "I have a premonition that will not leave me, as it goes with Israel so will it go with all of us". A peaceful and unique nation like Israel and its people have to resort to violent means to survive. My heart breaks for them

THE WAR IN THE SOUTH HAS BROUGHT ABOUT A GREAT UNITY IN ISRAEL. MORE AND MORE NON-RELIGIOUS SOLDIERS ARE PUTTING ON TZITIS AND TEPHILLIN AND THERE IS A LOT OF RESPECT FOR EACH AND EVERY PERSON BOTH RELIGIOUS AND NOT. However, the Netura Karta Sect said this week that if the terrorist would have known how anti-Zionist the man that he killed was that he would not have run him over. Even the blond in the blond joke could tell them you-who he was a Jew!

So much for Netanyahu’s not talking under fire. What concessions I have heard that instead of offering dead terrorists bodies to be removed from pig skins upon their return we are offering 25 live bastards for the 2 bodies of the soldiers. “Only” 40 rockets and mortars yesterday and more in the wee hours of the morning at this rate they have at least 100 days of supplies and resupplies. Protective Edge Aug 10th Day 33 I believe = 14th of Menachem Av as evening arrives
Below links to Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon it is time for Netanyahu to wake up. Since midnight about 40 mortars and 20 rockets. Keren Shalom received a number of mortars and closed to supplies to Gaza. No more nonsense with this 72 hr. cease and again fire. Either they stop or not. In the meaning one less Hamas Rocketeer and 20 terror targets attacked. More garbage falling on Nahal Oz, Sderot, Ashkelon and Beer Sheva. Protective Edge Aug 11 = 15 Menachem Av 5774
Today according to our tradition is the Jewish Sadie Hawkins Day where the girls used to dance this afternoon and on Yom Kippur after the Synagogue to attract husbands. On this day the last of the wood for the holy Altar (Mizbayach) was collected. On this day after the misunderstanding of the Halacha of the daughters of Zelophad tribal intermarriage was allowed again. A tense ceasefire went into effect at midnight with a last minute round of M-75 rockets on Tel Aviv. Sort of a game both sides are playing but they are more for destroying lives. Israel is not a quiet place and the weakness of the leadership is keeping up the tension here as the search is on for hints of tunnels from Sinai and the northern border as Hamas’s threat has been proven an effective weapon against the IDF.

I received this from Gail Winston the following two cut short articles but you can see enough to get the idea of what we are up against: … Initial investigations into the deaths of the three Maglan soldiers on Wednesday have shown that Hamas operatives hid 12 explosive containers inside the walls of the health clinic, each one weighing 80 kilograms. Before forces entered the structure, a tank shell was fired inside over fears the building was booby trapped. An Oketz unit dog was sent inside, followed by troops. The explosives were detonated, and the building collapsed onto the soldiers. (Israel HaYom Aug. 1)
Hamas had literally wrapped an UNRWA health clinic in a “suicide vest” for sabotaging a building as a deadly booby trap! THIS is the crime of the century against humanity! How dare any UN Human? Rights Organization consider that Israel’s defense against the Dark Arts of Hamas & other Islamic Jihad Terror organizations did anything but defend against Terror’s Crimes Against Humanity.
That clinic’s hidden “suicide vest” of 12 explosive containers, each one weighing 80 kilograms was supposedly built with the concrete and cement Israel sent in to build schools & hospitals to serve Arab sick patients. How many of them knew they were inside a Terror Chamber of Death? How many more such “suicide buildings” exist within Gaza – or other TERROR strongholds in other countries such as Lebanon as the Hezb’Allah TERROR organization? Hezb’Allah also has stockpiled countless rockets, missiles & probably in tunnels. [Gail Winston Aug. 3 @3 am]
Remember when you read, hear or view the Media – by print, radio, TV, Internet or now Social Media – that as Israel risks her valiant young men & Billions of $ to defeat the Terror machine of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, even Hezb’Allah, Israel is also defending all of the Western countries who have been inundated with millions of Muslims.
Maybe only 5 or 10% are Terrorists & the rest are ‘nice’ but, you do the math. That could be hundreds of thousands of Terrorists who don’t like our free Western culture. Their Sharia (strict Muslim) laws are cruel & inhumane to people, especially to women. I’ve read & taught what these are. Find a Koran & read them yourself. …
US Posture of Deterrence and Islamic Terrorism By Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative” “Israel Hayom,” August 8, 2014, http://bit.ly/1sEwuP3
According to the
July 30, 2014 Rasmussen Reports , 59% of likely US voters believe that there is a global conflict between the Muslim World and Western civilization, only 17% disagree and 24% are undecided. Likely voters also believe that the “Arab Spring” does not bode well for the US.
The US posture of deterrence played a key role in bolstering Western civilization in face of intensifying threats, checking global violence and instability, bolstering the confidence of US allies, and constraining the maneuverability of rogue regimes.
However, the current perception of the US posture of deterrence among US Arab allies is reflected by a
July 27, 2014 OpEd in the leading Saudi daily, A-Sharq al-Awsat, which is one of the most influential Arab newspapers, owned by the Saudi royal family: “…. Secretary John Kerry is representing a weak US administration…. He visits Baghdad to represent an administration that lacks decision-making. He shuttles between Tel Aviv and Cairo as a mediator with no real clout…. Barack Obama’s weak foreign policy is weighing on the deteriorating situation across the world…. Washington’s position on Egypt has changed over the course of the past three years in a manner which demonstrates America’s confused vision and weak foreign policy…. Obama did not even bother to issue a statement regarding the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) forcing Mosul’s Christians to flee. Obama’s increasingly isolationist policy is damaging Kerry’s credibility….”
In order to improve the US image in the Muslim World,
President Obama issued a July 27, 2014 statement on the occasion of the Muslim holiday, Eid al Fitre: “…. In the United States, Eid reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy.” That statement was consistent with Obama’s June, 2009 speech at the University of Cairo: “America and Islam are not mutually-exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings…. Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality…. I also know that Islam has always been a part of America’s story…. Since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States…. [The] partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is….”
Also Gail forwarded the map of the rocket launches as of last Friday was 3,410 it too is outdated but you can get the idea of human rights violations.

Still more from Gail: HOW HAMAS DELIBERATELY CREATED A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA by Evelyn Gordon   8.8.2014     http://tinyurl.com/pquocab
There has been a lot of talk lately about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. What has gone curiously unmentioned by all the great humanitarians from the UN and “human rights” groups, however, is the degree to which this crisis was deliberately fomented by Hamas: Aside from starting the war to begin with, Hamas has done its level best to deprive Gazans of everything from food to medical care to housing, despite Israel’s best efforts to provide them.
Take, for instance, the widely reported shortages of medicines and various other essentials. Many of these products are imported, and since Egypt has largely closed its border, Gaza has only one conduit for these vital imports: the Kerem Shalom crossing into Israel. Thus if Gaza’s Hamas government had any concern whatsoever for its citizens, ensuring that this crossing was kept open and could function at maximum efficiency would be a top priority.
Instead, Hamas and other terrorist groups subjected Kerem Shalom to relentless rocket and mortar fire throughout the 29-day conflict, thereby ensuring that the job of getting cargo through was constantly interrupted as crossing workers raced for cover. Hamas also launched at least three tunnel attacks near Kerem Shalom, each of which shut the crossing down for hours.
Despite this, Israeli staffers risked their lives to keep the crossing open and managed to send through 1,491 truckloads of food, 220 truckloads of other humanitarian supplies, and 106 truckloads of medical supplies. But the numbers would certainly have been higher had the nonstop attacks not kept disrupting operations. On August 1, for instance, a shipment comprising 91 truckloads of aid had to be aborted on when Hamas violated a humanitarian cease-fire by launching a massive attack near Kerem Shalom. [It happened again yesterday – Sunday 8/10. Gail W
.] Deliberate Rocket Fire on Israel's Goods Crossing into Gaza
Intentional rocket fire earlier today by Hamas causes the closure of Kerem Shalom crossing, through which humanitarian aid passes into Gaza. The barrage of rockets hit the crossing compound directly and It was decided not to endanger the workers at the site and to halt the transfer of goods until further notice.
Once again, Hamas prioritizes terror over the welfare of the people of Gaza - RP.

Morning of Aug 14th or 18th of Menachem Av 5774
The Gazans accepted under heavy pressure from Egypt and degradation by Egypt a 5 day cease fire. Last night about 10 PM while I headed to sleep, two hours before the Gaza truce was due to end Wednesday midnight, rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip against large parts of southern Israel including Ashkelon, Kiriat Gat, Yoav District and Shear Ha Negev. One or two were intercepted. All in all until about 1:20 AM 8 rockets were fired but nobody claimed responsibility. The terrorists are taking a few days off from the talks to consult their chiefs both in Gaza and abroad plus Abu Mazen. The Israeli delegation did make some concessions on supplies along with Egypt.
